Real Blue Moon

the color of the moon doesnt change, if thats what your getting at. but what we see on earth does change, sometimes the moon appears white blueish, and other times, it will appear more orange-redish,

this effect depends on where the moon is in the sky when you look at it. The key to this is earths atmosphere.

take for example the moon is directly overhead. When light is reflected down to you, it only passes a short distance through earths atmosphere, which is like a very thin blanket over the surface of the earth. its a straight line perpandicular through.
the moon will look more white.

now, on the other hand, if the moon appears closer to horizon, the light has to travel a much longer distance through the atmosphere to reach your eye since the moon is at a steaper angle. The moon looks more redish.

our atmosphere refelects or absorbs light, leaveing only the color you see. the longer light travels through it, the more it will appear to shift to that redish color. hope that helps.

heh and also its true, what they call a blue moon is two full moons in a month also. but if your asking about what the moon accually looks like at times then this should explane it. they have nothing to do with each other.

No.
A "blue moon" is just a common term for when we have 2 full moons in one calendar month. It is used to mean "not very often", since we don't get 2 full moons in a calendar month very often.

From full moon to full moon is 29.5 days. So if you have a full moon on the first of the month (and its not February), then the next full moon is on the 30th or 31st of the month (depending on your location on the Earth) and that is the second full moon (or a "blue moon").

Yes, but it's not blue. A "blue moon" is simply the second full moon occurring within a calendar month, and can happen once or twice a year.

Other than white/gray (its usual color), the only other color you'll see the moon turn is a red/orange color during a full lunar eclipse.

Its just an imaginary blue moon. It's always just the same dirty yellow colour it always is.

A blue moon is the second full moon in any month that has two full moons. The last blue moon was on 30th July.

no, the moon is not blue. only a moon with either a large amount of water or an atmosphere composed of certain gasses like methane could create a blue moon. and weve found none.
