The kid who was tasered by the campus police was tasered because he was being physically and vocally disruptive.

So here's my question: Do you also stick up for the freedom of speech of the people who shout out at Ann Coulter's speeches and throw pies at her, or do you only think there should be no rules for Republicans who disrupt speeches on college campuses?

When will the silly people learn. He had his three minutes at the mic. When his time was up he refused to leave. The yshut the mic off. He still refused to leave. The cops tried to move him, he resisted the entire way up the aisle. He got zapped. Served him right. Mr. Swiftboat wanted the police to let him go so he could answer his question.

I'm a Republican, and for once I though Kerry was acting like a normal human being - he was willing to give the boy his answer. Nothing wrong with that. Usually they just speak over top of the protesters - Dems and Reps alike. The punk @$$ kid got what he deserved. The cops don't care what your politcal stance is, no matter how misguided.

Grow up and come off it - please?

I don't bring it up.. I really don't care.. but I'll answer your question anyways... Yes I also stick up for the people who shout out at Ann Coulter's speeches... I actually voted for Kerry last election (only bc there was no option besides Bush) I am not even a republican and I thought the incident was to extreme.. I mean tazering someone?? but that's just my opinion... and as far as I know the kid wasn't a republican either.. he was actually making the point that Kerry won the election.... I'll prb get many thumbs down but oh well it needed to be said.. I think the whole topic should be dropped altogether..

Freedom of speech is one thing, being a disruptive *** is another. Instead of a taser, they should have used mace.

On the opinion programs, it was the Libs who cried about free speech, and the cons who felt this guy deserved what he got.

Isnt there another way? Wait - we are all human correct? Can we not use physical force? Do you know that the alternative to the taser is deadly force??? When did we forget how to fight? Would it be impossible for the policeman to tackle him? Did he have a deadly weapon? NO! We must have respect for life. A taser is better than deadly force BUT their are other less extreme ways to stop someone from being a jerk!

Good point. They tasered him because he resisted arrest. They arrested him because he would not stop asking questions and was obviously being disruptive to the gathering. Regardless of the speaker, I think that the student was very disrespectful. If you watched the full video, you see police approach him and were obviously going to remove him from the meeting. I don't feel sorry for him. But I respect him for his vigilance. The police acted in accordance, they don't just tase people for no reason.

Disruptive is disruptive! Andrew Mayer now has a nice story to go with his resume and a bit of fame as well. Not sure if the bull dyke did the tasing or the BRO who was offended by the guy using "owned language" without the pigmentation to authorize it!

I speak up for the freedom of speech...but not bodily harm. Republican,Democrat,Freewill..whatever.No matter what I believe..it does not justify my injury...but if I get out of hand enough to injure...I should be restrained by those who protect me,you, and whoever gets "out of hand".Let's be real...there are limitations to everything we do no matter how strongly we feel.

Heres the thing. Yes, he was being disruptive. However he didn't have to be tasered. Keep i mind that being tasered hurts like HELL!!!! They could have brought him down easily another way.

Shouting at her, yes, throwing pies, absolutely not.

I say get over it. I have a friend who was tazered because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. We laugh at him for it. It's not like they were hurt THAT bad.

this incident has nothing to do with free speech

---------

Because there is no automatic stop on a taser gun, many officers have used it repeatedly or for a prolonged period of time, thus potentially contributing to suspects’ injuries or death
