If so, can a breastfeeding mother make her baby sick? I was stung by a bee, the area became very swallon and I have not been 100% since, however, my nursing 6month old daughter has been very unsettled since and cant keep anything down. I asked the pharmasist, and they just looked at me like I was stupid... it seems very suspiciously linked... could this be true?

Unlike most other allergies, insect allergy can cause a life-threatening disruption to breathing and circulatory systems called anaphylactic shock. For one person in 100, the sting of an insect can be fatal.
Most people stung will experience a "local" reaction with redness, pain, swelling and some itching only at the sting site. If the reaction progresses quickly to sites other than the sting site or is followed by difficult breathing or choking at the throat, the person is experiencing a "systemic" allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) requiring emergency medical treatment.....

Yes, some people are allergic to bee venom, sometimes seriously so. Although the venum is quickly broken down in the body, it might be possible for some of it to pass on to your milk. Severe allergies can be life threatening....so if you had more than a little swelling for a few hours, see an allergist.... The second exposure is typically much more severe than the first and he may prescribe shots or an epi-pen. .

Even if you are not allergic to bee sting, if you are swarmed and get many hundreds of bees stings at once, the sum total of all that venom can make you sick, or even kill you.

They don't call Africanized bees Killer Bees for nothing.
