Okay so I have a 1986 BMW 325i. And lately It has been acting like it is on it last legs, but I don't want to sell it. (for one I've gotten attached to it --its my first car, and two I think that it would be more fun for me to work on it)So the most I have done is change the oil on a car, that is the extent of my automotive matenince abilities, I just need to be told what to do to my car.
So here are the symptoms:
when I shift it into gear (reverse or drive) it will like bounce,
then when I'm driving just altogether it's just loud (or at least louder than a car that size should be) and I don't think it is the exaust because i just had that repaired a couple months ago. And when I floor it when I am on the freeway, or getting on the freeway, it has a bit of a delay(like a second or two).
And the air conditioning doesn't work(but the vent works and the heater works).
So what Do I need to do?

Sounds like your transmission is getting ready to go. Take it to a RELIABLE mechanic and have it checked out. Good luck!

Transmission:
When was the last time you changed your transmission fluid?
Change out BOTH the ATF and filter. Hopefully, this would fix the problem. If not, a transmission rebuild will not be worth the money for a car this age. This could also fix your delayed response issue.

Engine:
New spark plugs, high-mileage synthetic oil.
Noise could also be caused by the valves/valve train. An experienced mechanic with an engine stethoscope would be able to positively identify it.
Pulleys could also contribute to the noise.

Air conditioning:
It could simply be out of refrigerant. Buy a can to recharge it (buy one with a pressure gauge). It's cheap now... Target has them on clearance.

Man I miss my E30. I had an 1988 BMW 325is. Kinda close to that you have just a few different trim pieces.
So for the bump you hear, look in the trunk, take off the left and righ side panels and look at the shock towers, more than likley you'll have some worn out bushings up there. By now, if they are the stock ones, you're way over due in changing them.
for the hesitation, try running some fuel injection cleaner in there to see if it helps, you may have to check your fuel filter to see if it needs to be changed. of course, if you haven't done a basic tune up in awhile this might be a good time to.
and the AC system, you may have a leak in there. In my E30 I just took the AC out. BUt oyu can have it check out at a shop and it could just need to be recharged.

on there you should be able to get alot of answers for your E30. If not, most of the people on there will know where to send you for answers.

Good luck.

3. buy an aftermarket exhaust system
4.replace the tires and brakes with performance tires / brakes inclu (rotors and pads)
5. cruise and enjoy

total cost is a down payment on a new car or $4500 complete with labor.
