1.The largest tank you can afford--my male is in a 75 long.
2.Basking platforms (real or fake) to climb on.
3. Heat lamp--a simple lightbulb in a dome reflector works fine.
4. A thermomstat or dimmer switch to adjust the heat lamp temp to about 105 for babies and 100 for adults.
5. A UVB bulb made for reptiles. Reptisun 10.0 or Reptiglo 8.0 are good.
6. Food dish for fresh daily salad.
7. Substrate (what goes on bottom of tank). NO LOOSE SUBSTRATE. Calci sand is the worst and any loose substrate can be ingested and cause impactions. Use ceramic tile (like from Home Depot--they will cut it for you) cut to fit, non-adhesive shelf liner (no glue or sticky on the back as it will give off fumes if heated) which is rubbery, easy to clean, looks nice and is cheap. Paper towels or newspapers are good for babies. Reptile carpet is also good, but you'll need extra pieces to replace the ones being washed/dried.
8. Food. Crickets, superworms (for adults only), silkworms, phoenix worms. Avoid mealworms--too hard to digest. Order online--a young beardie will eat up to 75 or more a day! And the crickets should be gutloaded and have their own tub of food and water and hiding places (look up cricket care).
9. A small bowl of water on the cool end, though many beardies won't drink from a bowl.
10. A plastic tub for bathing/soaking a few times a week for babies, once a week for adults.
11. Vitamin-multi and calcium with D3(no phosphorus) for dusting crickets.

get the largest cage you can afford up to 50 gallons. you should not house an adult in a smaller cage than that...do not use sand as a substrate. i use a reptile carpet in mine, its machine washable and there is no chance of ingestion and impaction. you need a uva/uvb light source and heat light. you also need a water bowl, and a spray bottle to mist your dragon daily, most like to drink water that way. get some kind of decoration for the tank for your dragon to bask on and hide in. i use an aquarium decoration that is a large hollow log...he lays on it during the day, and sleeps inside at night. bearded dragons are not known to play with toys, but mine likes to look at himself in a mirror. hope this helps you out, and good luck with your dragon! they are wonderful pets
