there are scorpions here but if you are staying in the city you have nothing to worry about. I have only seen 1 scorpion in the city ever, I'm sure there are a few within the city but very far and few. If you are going to be out in the desert and hiking then you need to watch what you are doing.

Yes scorpions can come into your house in Arizona. But, it's only in certain areas. Areas that are newly developed tend to have scorpions, as well as homes that have a lot of land (like acres) or back up to a mountain or something. My parents have a home (built in the 70s) on an acre (it's horse property) and they get scorpions that come into their house. My brother and father were both stung once. My father almost died from it and had to be rushed to the hospital. He's highly allergic :( My home is a little old (built in 1991) and I have NEVER seen a scorpion in the yard or house. Newer homes built in the last few years can have them too, because they have destroyed the scorpions natual habitat and so they will come into your yard and home. If you are looking to buy a home in Arizona, just be sure to ask your realtor or the person selling the home if they ever see scorpions. They should tell you. Good luck!

Yes...They're here. But it's not like they're running all around the place like ants...You most likely won't see one. They are more common at night...That's when they hunt their food (Small bugs). Whenever I've seen one, it's been at night. (But you can see them in the day...just not as much, they're hiding from the heat...Under rocks, bark etc...) Just use some small common sense tips...Don't stick your hands into places you can't see. If you walk around the house or outside at night...Wear some shoes/slippers...When getting dressed, shake your shoes or clothing to clear them of anything that may have crawled in. Don't be in the habit of falling asleep on the floor (In front of T.V. or something like that). Use a few night lights for better visibility. The sting is bad but not deadly...I've been stung. Burns for about a half hour and then the whole area where you were stung will get numb for about 24 hours and then the feeling works it's way back.

Bark scorpions are the most common and poisonous. You'll find them in the desert or the outskirts of the newer developments. Rule of thumb, the smaller the scorpion, the more poisonous.

Yes, there are scorpions in Arizona. They will sting you, but usually they have to be provoked in some way. Their sting is not deadly, but it will hurt. Just avoid them. When you walk around in the desert--wear boots.

Yup Yup Yup! Depends on where you are though. I live in Glendale and have never seen one around my house, but when you get out to the custom homes out there, where it's more deserty, then you will find them.

Yes. They are very common especially since thier natural habitat of the desert is being disrupted by urban sprawl. They are not aggressive tho. If they see you they avoid you. Also most of them aren't terribly poisonous. Its the rattlesnakes you have to worry about...

We have them, will you see them...odds are .. probably not unless you take her to the zoo and she sees them behind glass. I've live here 20 years and I've seen exactly one in the out doors and none indoors.
