Ok, i know someone that lives in the projects (family members) and there is this cop living there (who knows why, guess to watch people and be nosy) anyhow is it legal for him to have a camera in his window?
What if that was my family member with a camera in their window would it still be okay or not?
Also in their lease it states that their is to be no firearms not even BB guns on the property but yet he packs in shot guns. I know he is a cop but when he comes home shouldn't he have to leave those guns outside that fence?
What if someone broke into his apt. and stole that shotgun and killed one of those kids down there?
Who's fault would it be then? The cop or the city that put him there at them apts?

Is any of this legal? what can people do about this?
Thanks

The projects were i am talking about is a good neighborhood. It is in kentucky, in a small quiet town.
It is not all crazy like you think.

Since this cop has moved in there he is the one who has caused trouble. He is a pervert asking women to well you know and he drives there so fast , he has almost hit 2 different kids there with his vehicle then his cop car.
He is a prick, my family are not dope dealers or anything like that but they feel like their privacy is being invaded.

This cop is far from being perfect, he beat a 17 year old boy to death in another county from here and that is why he moved here. They got rid of him in that county, i do not know how he is still a cop.
He harasses people, follows people and intimadates them.

Add: If my family members where to have a gun in their apt. they would get evicted so how is it any fair?
You are correct, he is living there rent free but he is the trouble maker. All he does is drink and parties while all the neighbors are suppose to stay in their apts. I know all of this because i have been there and seen it with my own eyes.

Cops who live in the projects usually live there rent free in exchange for keeping the peace. Yes it is legal for the camera to be there. Yes, your family can have a camera, too. It's legal. What is not legal is photographing the inside of someones apartment with a camera lens more high powered than the human eye. Hope this helps. Look up photography ethics. By the way, your family is safer having him that close. Why don't you want them to be safe. If something goes wrong he is already there. Unless they are doing something illegal. They wouldn't be involved in that, would they?

You have relative that live in the projects and you think a cop next door is a bad thing? Are you nuts?

A cop with a gun is exactly who I want living next door to me. Some bad guy goes to crawl in my window - hopefully the cop next door will hear it and come out with that gun and handle that situation. Better yet... bad guy sees cop car parked in front of the building next to mine and decides to go break into a building on the other side of the complex- as far away from the cop as he can get.

The cop has a camera watching the area outside his building so if someone wants to deal drugs or vandalize my car - his camera will catch them doing it?! The nerve of that guy. How dare he take measures to help prevent crime or catch criminals.

The only reason I see for you to complain is that your relatives are the ones that would be committing the crimes.

I would say it's just as legal for a cop to have a camera in his window as it is for someone to be watching his window. Law enforcement officials have permits to carry weapons. If you are concerned about the legality of this "cop" bringing weapons into your "project", consult an attorney.

Anyone can legally have a camera in their window, even a cop.
He has the right and the responsibility to have weapons in his possession.

I think anyone can have a camera in their window. Unless he's looking into people's apartments, why should you care?

Further, why should a policeman leave his firearms somewhere? Where should he leave them? Who's the idiot who decides to break into a policeofficer's apartment?

I, for one, would love for a police officer to live in my apartment complex. Would deter the drug dealers, and certainly there would be less crime on site!
