I have been at my job for 9 yrs. Recently I got another offer at another company making 3000 dollars more per year. I would like to stay at my current company so I asked them to match this offer. They said they would not so I put in my 2 weeks notice. I honestly do not want to quit but I feel very unappreciated my a company I have worked so hard for to let me go over 3000 dollars/year. It's not even about money, I just want to feel wanted there. Am I being ridiculous?

I should add that I really love my job and there is no guarantee that I will like the new one.

Nope. You made the right decision. You asked for more money, had an offer better than you were getting. They turned down the opportunity to keep you on staff.

Move on and be happy. You were not appreciated where you were working. It was obvious that you were not going to change that fact. That is how most "JOBS" are.

I would let the new employer/manager know that you are recognition driven and that it is a motivator for you. Hopefully, with that bit of knowledge you will get more money and the satisfaction that you need and deserve.

Congratulation on your new position.

Best of luck.

Yes, it's time to move on. You've been there for 9yrs and have learned a lot, I'm sure. But obviously, they are not prepared to keep your experience. Since you told them you had another offer on the table, they were up front with you. There could be many reasons - lack of revenue, not enough work, or they could just be *******. However, you need to do the right thing for yourself. More $$ + new experiences = a happier life.

Take the new job and rest easy knowing that attrition costs will eat them alive in the long run.

This is time to move on and find a better job...although 3000 dollars is not a good enough reason for you to leave ur current company. u should also consider if the a new company could provide you a better place to work, reasonable workload and short time to commute to work. I wouldnt bother to request something from my company anymore. I only show them I am not appreciated and if they dont bother to do something to keep me then i will just quit.

PLEASE move on, NOW!

companies don't give a darn about the employees. If the other offer is something you like go for it.

You may not want to leave the current job because you are familiar with it. When starting something new we think of all kinds of ways to talk our self out of things. Take the new job just for the change

Sure, you have the right to request a raise. They have the right to decide whether to say yes or no. It sounds like you already did, and they said no.

You aren't being ridiculous, but they still said no. So good luck at your new job - don't look back, and don't be bitter. You're moving on to an opportunity.
