Thanks for answering on my question about the Jena 6, but I must disagree with you on what you said about how "labor day and president's day were white people holidays". Ma'am, I must say that I think you are sadly mistaken. President's day is for the United States as a whole (not a certain nationality) as is Labor Day. Yes, no presidents (as of yet) have been black but that does not mean they are for whites only to celebrate. Our president stands for OUR country. Whites, blacks, mexicans, chinese, japanese, vietnamese, etc.
I, by no means, mean to stir trouble. MLK did some great things. The other answerer on my question was only suggesting that if whites had a "white history month", alot of the black population would say we were racists for having such a thing.
And yes, if you are not from the South, most people don't understand that this is how things are down here. Sad, but true. They haven't changed and I believe that Louisiana will be one of the last states to fully and completely get past one's skin color.
My advise to whites, blacks, mexicans, etc. Don't live in Louisiana unless you are able to deal with the separation. Most of us don't really even think this is such a big deal (Jena 6) because we are so used to it. Not just because of the black guys being in jail, but because whites are also such a minority in this state...believe it or not.

It's clear that race, wealth, and social class plays a big part in police investigations and our justice system. It's unfortunate that our system is so biased.
I'm pleased that demonstrations are bringing these issues to the attention of the public. Unfortunately, I'm sure that conservative talk radio and media will make it something that it is not.
