I think I'm really now beginning to understand how a monster rises to power; nobody seems to get it - Iran's prez openly wants Israel & US eliminated, and we yawn.

Prior to WWII? Of course. Hitler was well-regarded throughout the world when he first assumed power, even here in America. I'm sure if he toured the US it would have been quite the event.
