Read all the books written by Sidney Biddle Barrows, the "Mayflower Madam". She got busted, but she did run at least 2 successful services and talks about how she did it in her books.

Depends on where you live, as far as I know its illegal in most states, unless u live in vegas. Being a madame is not legal.
