then (3 - 2y) / 3 = (15 - 10y) / 15

and (12 - y) / 5 = (36 - 3y) / 15

now the equation is (15 - 10y) / 15 = (36 - 3y) / 15

or 15 - 10y = 36 - 3y

- 10y + 3y = 36 - 15

- 7y = 21

y = 21/(-7) = - 3

The solution is y = - 3
