As you are in San Antonio, to see San Antonio, I would have to agree with the above, that you should try the Paseo del Rio (Riverwalk) though it can be kind of a madhouse on weekends. The restaurants on the Riverwalk don't often seem to be trying their best, as they are full anyway due to their location but their are a few that stand out. Biga on the Banks can be good, I like Boudro's (I asked my wife to marry me there), Acenar can be good, I'm sure a few others can give you some great ideas. For a romantic dinner (if that's what you are after) the best choices in San Antonio (according to the Express News Reader's Poll and Critics Choices) are Grey Moss Inn, The Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hills, The Tower of America's Restaurant, Las Canarias (at La Mansion del Rio (on the Riverwalk) possibly Ruth's Chris (downtown is nicer) and Francesca's at Sunset. I have eaten at all of these and they are all good.
After dinner check out the JazzAlive concert free at Travis Park. On Saturday night from 7:30-9pm Jane Monhiet will perform, she is a rapidly rising jazz singer often compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand and from 9:30-11:00 is Arturo Sandoval, he plays jazz fusion with a latin feel and is phenomenal.
After the concert head back to the river for a drink at Swig or go dancing at one of the clubs, or stop and get ice cream or Starbucks for coffee.
Late night go to Mi Tierra at El Mercado, it is a great place for a late night snack or a early morning breakfast.
Another place I like to go, to eat al fresco and enjoy the margaritas and decent Mexican food is La Fogata, 2427 Vance Jackson Rd, San Antonio, TX - (210)340-1337 (Incidentally, this is where my wife and I went on our first date 18 years ago)
If you were here on a weekday I would recommend working your way down the river with a progressive dinner at several restaurants, but on the weekend the waits would leave you starving.
Have a great time in San Antonio, and I hope your date goes well.

You can see the city from the sky. It rotates at night and there is a club above the restaurant where you can dance away over 700 ft above san antonio.
Love your choice for the hotel. I remember as a kid going there when it was still the San Antonio Public Library. I thought it was too beautiful a place to be a library, but cherished reading in front of the beautiful windows in the heat and in the cold.
