My Grandmother's name is Edith. I looked up the meaning of her name, apparently it means "the spoils of war"?

The "spoils of war" means the valuables, goods, treasure, etc., that a conquering army would take from the conquered people. In other words , looting and stealing. I hope your grandmother won't mind this interpretation of her name!

"Spoils of War" have over the centuries included such things as gold and silver, jewellery and other goods stolen from the defeated enemy. It also includes taking the enemy as slaves of raping the women of the enemy.
