Easton, PA is about the only place around 1 hour from Newark, NJ. And its a nasty commute.
Watertown, NY is quite a bit upstate.
To get from Watertown to Newark you would go through/near Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and the Pocono area. However all of those are 1.5 hours drive or more from Newark, NJ.

Easton, PA is about 1 hour due west of Newark on I-78. If you took I-280 west from Newark to I-80 west, you would enter Pennsylvania at Delaware Water Gap, which is near Stroudsburg. That would be just over an hour from Newark.
Watertown, NY however is about 30 minutes from Canada on I-81. It's at least 2 1/2 hours to anywhere in Pennsylvania. The closest town in Pennsylvania would be Great Bend, PA..
