no wait a minute. The moon doesn't represent me, nor do I wish to communicate to others that I read, so why would I have the moon do it

That is one strange question.
How can the moon "represent" me as a reader? What in the world does that mean?
Unless you mean have I ever read by moonlight - yes, I have. Written by moonlight, studied star charts by moonlight, went fishing by moonlight, went swimming by moonlight.
