That is not an accurate assessment of the belief system.

Put into similar terms -- the idea is that God had to allow bad people to kill one part of God, as a symbol so that other people could find hope. Or put another way -- the sacrifice of that one part of God embodied created a path to salvation that did not exist before.

I agree that it is a bit convoluted -- the idea that a death was required as a way to create a path to salvation -- but I've never bought the idea of original sin. One reason I'm not Christian.

But it's not nonsense to the people who believe it -- and just because I don't believe it doesn't make it invalid.

I am a Christian, and it is hard to understand. You really have to have an idea of the nature of God. He is Holy, and can tolerate no sin in his presence, but he is also Love, and wants to save sinners. He does not make anyone sin, so it is not His fault that we are all sinners. The only way sin can be atoned is by the blood of an innocent. There are no innocent humans, so the only way for God to bring us salvation was to become human so He could sacrifice Himself for us. However, He didn't kill Himself- people did. He is not forgiving us from Himself, He is taking our sins on Himself so that we don't have sin anymore. It is the Free Gift of God, dude.

There's a lot of things that God does and allows to happen that is far beyond anyone's scope of understanding. As a Christian, I believe that God created the universe out of nothing. You can laugh and belittle, that's fine, but to try to apply what little human logic and understanding that the most intelligent of us possess, and apply it to our Creator doesn't make sense. We are too inadequate.

That's why more Christians are Republicans, because they act in unreasonable and mysterious ways.

Just trying to give a political answer.

For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

God did not kill Jesus, people killed Jesus. God allowed it so that we could have salvation.

No
I don't have the time to explain it all but you don't have a grasp as your question puts it.

Maybe you need to try stop loading and twisting the Bible around so much and relax.

If you don't accept G-d that is up to you.

I wish you well.

Yes I agree with you - it makes absolutely no sense and it violates the idea of monotheism - worshipping one God.
