Ferdinand Magellan

A Portuguese but navigated under the Spanish flag.
Unfortunately, he was killed in the famous "Battle of Mactan" in Cebu, Phlippines by a native leader named Lapu-Lapu.
Lapu-Lapu is also a name of a fish in the Phils. (I dont know if the fish was named after him...lol..)

whichever crewman was closest to the bow at the end of the trip..... why does everyone keep saying "Magellan", then qualifying it by saying he died in the Phillipines?! If he died there, he quite obviously was NOT the first..lol
