Real gold jewelry is stamped w/ 10K, 14K, etc. Examine the earrings under a magnifying glass.

Real gold is also softer than sandstone but you don't want to do a scratch test & damage them. There are other methods described here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/roadshow/tips/gold_diamonds/index.html but they are dangerous. The best thing is to take them to a jeweler if you really need to know.

Umm my science teacher said something like.... "the difference between gold and fools gold, is if you pour some acid on it. Fools gold will disolve and real gold won't" To me its not worth the risk, but then again there aern't my earrings.
