here;s my rig:

AMD Athlon64 x2 4000+ (overclocked to 2.41ghz)
Asrock ALive NF6 - Vista
2x1Gb DDR2 533 Corsairs
256 NVidia 8500GT
250Gb Seagate Barracuda
Asus DVD-RW (lightscribe)

im looking to buy a new video card, i keep having problems w/ my Inno3d 8500GT, i keep having BSOD(stop error) so im replacing it with im not sure:
ATI Radeon 1650 or Palit NVidia 8500GT-Super
they both have 512mb VRAM and their specs are close, i wanna make sure i wont get anymore BSOD cuz i gotta focus on work (and games). anyways, if i buy the 1650, the guy at the store keeps telling me that 1650s are phasing out and old and i kind of dont trust him but im doubting 8500GT-Super cuz it's NVidia and it im afraid it might only give me endless BSODs, i've never had a problem w/ ATI video cards and drivers before so now im really confuse on w/c one to get. help anyone?

BSOD is mostly due to system instability. I think it is not your card but your overclocking that is causing the instability. Check your system for stability with Orthos (blend). Test may take hours but obvious problems usually show up early.

You may have to use memory divider or loosen RAM timings to achieve stability.

the two manufactures have there very own flaws.....Ati exchange into huge-unfold for undesirable drivers yet have began to make marvelous ones of late and Nvidia exchange into huge-unfold for costing an arm and a leg yet with the cost on the recent GTX 460 you cant extremely ***** with regard to the fees...... I actual have run enjoying cards from the two manufactures and prefer the two....The 9600gt is vulnerable card in to days international of gaming...The GTX 260 and the Radeon 4850,that are previous enjoying cards now smoke the 9600gt and there are various many greater that do...... long tale short: its in basic terms a count of decision....I carry on with ATI for marvelous now totally for the fees...Im actual thinking approximately getting a GTX 460 now because of the fact its in my funds..... Its a decision factor and what variety of funds you have....ATI or Nvidia are the two great manufactures of video enjoying cards... Scott

I use a Geforce GT 8500 512mb graphics card, and I have had no problems at all with it. I play a lot of games including WoW, Oblivion, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2, and Total War Medieval 2.

I have yet to run into any problems concerning my video card.

because your motherboard uses an nVidia chipset I would stick with the nVidia graphics card...

That being said its really a matter or personal opinion which card to go with... In theory you should be able to use which ever you want to. Personally I have never had a problem with ATI cards but there are people who claim to have nothing but problems with them so take it as you may.

ATI and NVidia are both fantastic companies! For me, it comes down to the amount of DDR.
