I don't agree that older women can't marry younger men. We do. I have and we are very happy, even after 15 years of marriage.
I have to admit that I was worried when we first hooked up because the thought of me looking and acting older scared me. I didn't want to be confused for his mom. But it's never happened. People tell me I look the same age at him. It's work but he keeps me busy and active.

Personally, I think they look foolish...but hey, everybody gotta be somewhere.
Mostly I think women are smarter than that...I mean the HUGE age gap thing. I've known several couples where the wife was a few years older, no problem. But perhaps as women we've seen what it can do to a person to become a spouse's "trophy". It's not pretty. A gilded cage is still a cage...and an arrangement based on that kind of trade off can't be good for anyone's spirit.
it hasn't been that many decades since wives were a commodity; maybe that's too recent for the pendulum to have swung back too hard yet.

They do. My older sister is married to a man ten years younger than she. He's over in Iraq having affairs. He basically doesn't care if she likes it or not. Cheeky little devil.
Not working out too well for her. Bad choice, I must say. He was charming at first.
Not saying it always happens this way.

I admire a man who marries an older woman. He is marrying her for the right reason, (I hope).
Society is changing their attitude about this now. I was married to a man younger than myself and I loved him very much. 11 years younger, to be exact. I kept turning him down and he even had his grey streaks put in his hair and then got down on his hands and knees and asked me to marry him. I did everything to discourage him because I was afraid. After fighting it for two years, I married him. Sad ending, but, nevertheless, I loved him, he just never really knew it.
The old man with a young woman gives me the creeps. First thought I have is "golddigger." So, I guess I have a bad attitude about that one. Makes me wonder...hmmmm.
Thanks, Jennyann.

Actually it happens all the time. Two good married friends of mine; the wife is ten years older than the husband. If you have the opportunity, go for it.

Personally, i could care less if an older woman marries a younger man, big whoop. If someone does not like it, just tell the to S.T.F.U.

The trouble is, that the men, GO after the younger women.
They can have a pot belly, varicose veins, no hair, but want to be seen with a lovely young women. It's their egos you know!
I think we should ask them!

it's a reasonable thing to do!!... hubby and I looked at it like this.... women tend to live ten yrs longer than their men.... so... I'f I'm ten yrs older than him, both of us should be nearing our end at nearly the same time, right?.. so neither of us would have to be alone for long.....there's 11 years between us and much love.... I was 39 and he was 28..... and it's been wonderful!!!... love don't have an age..... it's just love.............

They do quite often, just ask Zsa Zsa Gabor.
One of my husbands was 5 years younger, but as it turned out, he wasn't looking for a wife, he was looking for a Mom.I don't see any difference, you don't get to pick the person you fall in love with...It just happens!

It always takes society years to catch up and finally accept the inevitable.
Until they do, I'll just enjoy flirting ourtageously with all these young studs. Why end a good thing just because "somebody" doesn't approve?
