-2m - 8 > -4

Always try to get the letter alone. In this case, get the 'm' alone. So, divide both sides of the equation by -2. On the left side, both the -2 cancel each other out so the m is by itself. On the right side, -4 / -2 = 2. So you get:

m - 8 > 2

Again, get the 'm' alone. So you add 8 to both sides.

m - 8 > 2
+8 +8

m > 10. That should be your answer.

- 2m-8>4???? or you mean - 2m-8= - 4????... are you looking for the value of m in the equation??? if so.. this is how you do it step by step....

- 2m - 8 = - 4
u have to multiply both sides of the equation by (- 1/ 2 ) so...
( -1/2) ( -2m - 8 = ( -1/2 ) ( - 4 )
( - 1 ) -2m - 8 / 2 = ( - 1 ) (- 4) / 2
2m - 8 / 2 = - 4 / 2
m - 4 = - 2
m = -2 + 4
m = 2
in mathematics you need to know how to solve the problems in the long method way for you not to miss anything remember that math requires exact answer when you miss a digit or even a point your answer will be wrong but if you are already a hustler in solving mathematical problems the long way you can try other shortcuts to make your solution easier...
good luck and enjoy math it's the best!

-2m-8>-4
-2m-8+8>-4+8
-2m>4
-2m/-2>4/-2
m<=-2

Anything on the number scale that is less than -2 will make the inequality equation true.

Example: -2(-3)-8>-4=6-8>-4=-2>-4

We plugged in -3. Negative 3 is less than -2. This makes the equation true.

Okay, what you do is subtract 8 from both sides. You are then left with -2m > -4. You will then divide by -2.
* remember that when you divide by a negative in an inequality you have to flip the > to <. I don't remember why, but I know that you have too. *
You are then left with the answer m < -2.
You can check my work by plugging in a number less than -2. Let's say -3.
-2(-3) > -4. Multiple -2 by -3 and you get +6. +6 is greater than ( > ) -4.
I hope this helps. Please check the other answers on here before you write them down because they are not correct.

1) rewrite the problom with an equal sign
2m-8= -4
2) add 8 to both sides
2m-8= -4
+8 +8

you should get 2m=4

3) now divide both sides by 2.

2m= 4
you get m alone because 2 divide by 2 is 1 and 4 divided by 2 is 2.

you problem should look like m=2

th efinal step is to put back the > sign where the = is.

hope this helps
