I just say two E-mails from PayPal in my inbox. I've never used PayPal. I'm just curious as to whether I should open the E-mail or not. I know I'm not supposed to, but I'm just curious. What's the worst that can happen from opening an E-mail? Can you get viruses, spyware, will they know I opened the e-mail so they will keep on spamming me? What are the possible outcomes of opening and E-mail from someone who is probably a spammer?

Don't open it! People send all kinds of things using PayPal as the header. They could be phishing or just sending viruses. If you have never had Pay Pal then there is no reason for them to contact you. Delete it without opening it.

Paypal has some scams, I wouldn't open any of them if I were you. If you don't want any more spams, I would add the email addresses in the block section of your email account.

I copied this from the paypal web site:

Together we can help stop fraud.

If you think you’ve received a phishing email:

1. Forward the email to spoofATpaypal.com (replace "AT" with @)

2. Delete the email

Be on the safe side
Go to the My Account tab and click History to check your transaction history for inaccuracies.

Nothing will happen to you if you OPEN the email, but if you reply to it, you might get more spam, or someone trying to contact you for your personal info. I would just delete it or forward it to paypal.

Maybe nothing until you click a link or any part of the text of the email then all sorts of things can happen, virus, spy-ware, ID theft, etc. - I usually just delete any correspondence from any bank, eBay or other financial identity then if I have an account or reason for them to contact me I just go to the official website and log in. That way i get any legitimate messages and don't get anything I don't want. Good luck!

I've opened one before. It originates from a paypal@hotmail.com account or something that is obviously not the real Paypal, and they ask for you account information for updating purposes. A real Paypay e-mail would

1.) never arrive if you didn't have a Paypay account
2.) never originate from a Hotmail address
3.) never ask these questions

You can only get viruses and such if you open the links in the email. I think it's just spam so you should just as well delete it but if you are that curious then open away! =]

it is proably only an advertisement but you should be carefull
if you are using yahoo you can scan an email for virusus. back up the data on your computer first(it's prpably about time anyway) then opean the Document.
if you do not feel like opeaning the document than you can mark it as spam and it will not show up.

i dont trust anything like that, most of them are what is called a phish. they tell you someone hacked you account or something, and you use the limk that is on them to change your password, when in reality they get your password, since the site it takes you to is not paypal or whatever, its just a lookalike. i think its is called a phish, let me check that and then ill edit this.

Since you're not a PayPal client, the posts are scams.

I don't think you'll get a virus from just opening them but they are a phishing scam.

Practice safe computing...Just delete them

Nah- don't bother- you can forward them to spoof@paypal.com for confirmation. Plus, paypal ALWAYS uses your name not "paypal member", hope this helps!
