The problem is that any largely advertised arrangment is probably not the best bet. Be sure and do some online searching on them to find out both the pros and cons of it.

The phrase "work at home" generally splits in two. Telecommute (working online for someone elses business) or online entrepreneur (your own business that you can do online). I could type a page on either one.

Just for a quick answer...
for telecommute I would pick a subject that you know and then try to land a job doing online customer service for that. If you know bicycles then search for bicycle company that hires online customer support or pays people to manage their support forum.

For online business, there are many that can be great but beware of any "easy" ones. Generally.. if you put chore-time into it then you can get chore money. If you put half-day into it, half-day pay. To get a full time paycheck then you will probably have to put that much time in it. BUT if you choose something that you would be willing to put that much time into even if it wasnt for money, then it wont seem like so many hours of work. Again, you might want to tighten up the subject and try again. Such as if you are creative (graphics or witty comments) then a safe thing you might look at CafePress where you can open a free shop and see if your stuff can sell online before shifting up to a paid shop with some more benefits.

Both of those are just examples. The old customer support response for questions like this would be "Make a list of 10 items you would like to be involved in this, pick 3. Then I might have an answer"
