Darkest: 1:11

Of course that is assuming that you have a 12 hour clock. If it is a 24 hour clock then you would have:

Brightest: 22:08 or 23:08

Darkest: 1:11

Just to add my two cents... The above answers are correct when you have LED displays... However digital clocks also have LCD displays wher the background is lit. So in the case of an LCD display the above answers would actually be the dimest as the display segments are blacked out

Brightest would be... 11:08 pm if its set to military time -> 23:08

Darkest would be... 1:11 am assuming the first zero in front of the 1 would be completely blank. If not, then 11:11 am.

Just count the glowing bars that form the digits...

I have heard that the darkest hour is just before dawn. And I guess that sunrise is the brighest hour. I'm not sure though.
