after solving and putting in simplest form I got 4cd. Is this correct?

Assume question SHOULD read as:-
(5/4) (c d) + (11/4) (c d)
= (16/4) (cd)
= 4 c d

Yes, all you do is add the numerator which is the top number. Don't do anything with the bottom number. The answer is 16/4=4CD.

Simplify:
= 5/4cd + 11/4cd
= 16/4cd or 4cd
