Slavery In The 1700s

Yes, of course there were slavves in the 1700's.

Slavery exists since time immemorial and is alive and well even today- there is a perfectly legal slave market in Khartoum (Sudan) where you can buy a human for as little as 20 US$. Exporting might be a problem, but that's another story.

In the 1700's slavery was eliminated in Europe, mostly due to religious reasons. Slave traders operated from the Barbary coast (muslim North Africa), raiding both the coasts of Europe and the black African territories.

The slavery question is a rather huge subject, and some details may be gruesome- eg all the slaves (and there were milions) exported to China (usually from Zanzibar or via Arabia) were castrated. One of the reasons why there are no "AfroChinese" today

Yes. If fact, the 1700s was the biggest century for the Atlantic Slave trade (the trade that brought slaves from Africa to the New World). There were large numbers of slaves not only in the US, but also the Caribbean and Brazil.

Of course there were. There was slavery in Biblical times, and probably could still find it now, but only within the last 150-200 years or so has it started to become frowned upon and unacceptable.
