Today I found out that I have been a victim of debit card fraud, £131 was spent at UK-Carpets-Direct (online)and £8.00 to CC London - where ever that is, I live in Cumbria.

Barclays my bank have blocked that card - etc.. But they didn't seem that interested, I hardly use card machines, I only purchase from big online retailers like Amazon, so I don't how I've been done...Does anyone know how they could have got my card information? Anyone else been a victim of card fraud?

I hardly get statements, but I do shred them.

If the thief bought some carpet online,
surely they can track the delivery address....to which the carpet is been delivered.

sounds like barclys to me, not interested in fraud......

A Barclays member of staff croocked my account for £100,000 from transfering the funds to his account at barclays head office......

they swept the issue under the carpet & tried to give me shush money.

I dont trust Barclays or their staff at all now.

I was a victim of credit card fraud last week. In less than a week someone has spent nearly £1000 on the card. I'm still trying to sort it out. I've never used the card in a cash machine or shop. I have only used it online on 3 websites which are supposed to be secure. I wish I knew how they get card details. I just don't feel at all confident using a credit card now

A friend of mine was a victim of credit card fraud, they later found out they had there card 'scanned' at a petrol station.

Peoples credit card can be stolen from the post, they can buy your details or they can get hold of your details through paperwork. How secure is your banks data or paperwork disposal.

They can also get your details over an unsecured Internet service.

Nearly EVERY large merchant has had there computer system hacked. At least once a month you hear a new story about a company DISCOVERING their security has been breached. That said, the majority of fraud is actually committed by someone the victim knows. Both options are possible.

im not saying ur mates would do it to u, but, i had, wot i thot was a really good friend, she stole my bank card and went on a spending spree!! it doesnt take much for someone to steal ur credit card details, u could have entered ur details on a dodgy net site, or thrown away something with ur card details on? some atm machines have been tampered with, always cover the key pad thingy at the machines. when it happened to me, bank of scotland said that perhaps i was unaware of what i was doing and gave my card to the girl to use it as she pleases. sorry to hear bout what happened!!

It is really unfortunate. The identity thief might have got it from looking through your garbage or found an receipt from the store you go to. Always make sure to get rid of any offers from the bank with your personal information by tearing it up first.

It probably happened when you used it on Amazon on the internet.Barclays should reimburse you though. You will have to prove that you were not at the places your card was being used by the fraudster.Don't give up,just because Barclays do not seem interested, make them take an interest.
