Discuss your concerns with your doctor or midwife and let them know that you are interested in having an epidural for the pain.

Some hospitals allow patients to get epidurals very early in labor, while others want you to wait until you are 4 cm dilated. You should find out about the hospital where you plan to give birth. Also, consider getting a doula for your birth. A doula is a specially trained woman who stays with you and caters to your needs, rubs your back, feet, etc, This is in addition to having your family there. Studies show that using a doula can shorten labor, and reduce the painful parts of birthing.

An epidural or water birth can ease the pain, to help you relax just keep thinking about seeing your new baby and that should help ease the anxiety also :)

Congrats!!!!! :D

Get an epidural. NOTHING about it hurts. Not even when they stick the needle in.

Or just get some pain meds through your IV.
