I got this truck last year and it was in great shape. The previous owner took terrific care and kept up with the maintenance on it, he even gave me his very detailed maintenance log.

However, I didn't see an notes about having the clutch repaired, replaced, or serviced. Is there a certain mileage when I may want to get this very import part looked at?

When you have a problem with it you will know.

The question is do you want to break down unexpectedly?
Or do want to schedule the down time to have it replaced.

I had a vehicle that went 240K before I had problems with the clutch. If the previous owner drove a lot of highways miles it could be a lot longer.

You might want to check under the truck and see if there is a cover plate to take off and check the clutch.

When you do tear it apart go ahead and replace the clutch, pressure plate and the throw out bearing.

I agree. No reason to ditch her yet. I drove an old 1980 Mustang, and we sold it after it got rear-ended by some dumb kid in a lifted truck. Took out the taillights and bent the hatch. She had 262,000+ on the odometer when she went to someone at my dad's work. He replaced the taillights and hatch, and still drives it from time to time. Oh, and I would've replaced the parts myself, but we got an '81 Chevy pickup for free, and since the Mustang was being used mostly like a truck (even hauled bags of dirt once) it was a no-brainer to go with the truck.

Some people drive on the highway all day and don't abuse the clutch, and it lasts forever. Some people burn one out every 20,000 miles. Don't worry until it starts taking longer than usual to get going or it slips on the hills.

haha. well I'm pretty sure when/if your clutch needs replacing you'll become fully aware of the issue.
