It depends on your insurance type. If under your insurance company plan you can use your gynecologist as a primary care physician they may be able to give you the referral. If your insurance is the kind where you have to have someone else for your primary care physician like an Internal Medicine doctor then the referral comes from them. And in some cases you can go to the urogynecologist on your own, again depending on the kind of insurance you have as well as the policy of the practice you are considering.

If you are wanting to refer yourself to them ask around as to which doctors accept what is called self-referral.
