It could be a urinary tract infection and a kidney infection on that side. Kidneys are on your sides, and a bit back at your waistline. You will need to go to the doctor to get it remedied. They will take some urine and test it. If it is infection, they will give you antibiotics. The next time you urinate, take a jar in and pee in it. If you can see small white bubbles and blood, that is infection. Be sure to wipe yourself very clean before doing this, so that you can be pretty sure what you see is not from a period.

Also, if you have not already been told: Always wipe front to back. Indelicately, always wipe toward your anus. This is necessary so as not to introduce fecal cells to your urrethra and vagina. Those cells will give you infections.

When you are on your period, and changing your pads or tampons, use baby wipes to clean up. You will feel better, and you won't have to worry about odor so much. Use fragrence free and oil free wipes. Fragrence can irritate the tissue and the oil would help to harbor an infection.

IF you are having paIn on the right side, and it is about 2 weeks from the start of your period, it could be ovulation. that pain (or ache) is in your lower abdomen, on one side or the other. If you are young, just started having your period, you can see blood spotting, for up to a year or so (as I recall). Pantiliners will handle that OK.

It does not hurt to go to a doctor, but I am sure glad young girls have this environment to talk in. I had no one to talk to.

Always keep tampons and pads with you because your period can take a long time to regulate. I remember times when I started, I had no pads, and the machines in the restroom were empty! I had to ask the custodian to fill it. Worse yet, you may not have any change on you to buy them.

Periods average 28 days. Start counting on day one of your period on a calendar. Your next period averages 28 days from that date. Keep a record, so that as you get older, you will know when something changes. My cycle went every 26 days, and it is good to know that.

Go to www.webmd.com and www.yahoo.com to search for menstruation. You will get more info to help you know what to expect.

you might have a UTI (urinary tract infection) you need to go to the doctor to get antibiotics, or do what i do drink alot of cranberry juice this helps me relieve the pain of a UTI. but my first choice would be the doctor, just because this is the first time for you, and you may not know how your body may react to this type of infection.

I get the exact same thing. It can be super painful to pee. Cranberry juice or pills help. You can get them at any drugstore. Hot baths also can be soothing. Mine last for about a week after every period.

This sounds like a urinary tract infection. Please let your mom know what's going on as well and have your doctor evaluate the situation further to see if they think it's a urinary tract infection or something else to cause this pain.
