I am 12 years old, and i REALLY want to have my period. Is that normal???????? Me and my two best friends went to six flags last sunday, and at the gate they have people who check your purses for like weapons and stuff. My friend said " I really dont want people going through my purse ". I said " why? ". and she said " because i have pads in there just incase ". She is having all of the signs of her period coming, and i am jelous. How should i handle this???

aah same thing for me when i was 12.
i was completely obsessed by getting it, i went through a phase of literally praying for it!
and you wont believe me because i was where you are now 4 years ago. but the second it arrives, you will wish it would go away again.
im not expecting you to believe me! of course im not. but anyways it'll pop up when it wants to.. trust me. it'll be on the day you least expect it. mine was during school. i had no pads. no nothing. then i had a double lesson of media i had to sit through praying nothing would happen! so be prepared! and one last thing hun.. the fact she has 'signs' means NOOOOTHING. im not being mean. but all these predictions they make.. not a single one worked for me.. they say ask your mother. she was 16 , i was 14. they say 6- 18months after you get the clear discharge. i had 3 YEARS! and so on!
like i say it'll come only when it wants to. and i feel your pain i really do. its horrible. especially with annoying people like me saying 'you'll hate it when its here!' and no-one being able to give you a date!! good luck hun!

I really really really wanted my period too, but it came about a year and a half later.

so really, the only way to deal with it is to just wait. I had to and it came (finally) and once it does come, be sure that you don't freak if you aren't on a schedule (there was a 3 month space between my first and second period) so just stay positive, and try not to think about it. (and maybe your friend just wants to feel cool by having pads in her purse... there aren't really any "signs" just like if you get cramps or your breasts have started developing.)

good luck!

I've met a few that wanted to have their periods until they started to have it and had it cause problems for them.

As for the issue of searching purses, the staff are used to seeing pads in women's purses so that doesn't bother them. And that's good that your friend has pads in her purse just in case. I try to do the same.

I started mine when I was 11 and I hated it. Trust me you don't want a period but you're young right now and you don't understand because you've never had it before. You get cramps, headaches, and overall you just feel icky. Maybe you should talk to your mother or a woman close to you so they can explain to you what it really is. Its no fun at all, trust me.

I'm almost twelve (next month) and i was totally obsessed with wanting it...then i realized telling my mom would be difficult, and if i were to leak in school it would be embarrassing...but it's definitely normal to want it. just remind yourself that you're gonna hate it...

by the way your friend might have all the signs but that means nothing. i had all the signs last year, and i still don't have it!

Don't be jealous when the time is right you'll get your period. but believe me when you get it you'll wish you didn't have one.
enjoy the time without having it

It will happen in time. Most likely sooner than later.
