I am so scared my dad will get angry at me, but my friend is a witness, the hit was on the back, its a foot long line down and only on the bumper

I assume that you are young, and you are drivnig your parents car! Tell your dad what happened. He may be upset, but it is not like you did something wrong. Your car was damaged when you were not even in it, and you were not in a place you should not have been.
Stuff happens! Your dad will get over it!

What are you scared of? That the mad shopping cart followed you home??? Call your insurance company and also let the Home Depot Manager know. They might even have a video of that part of the parking lot. That can help you find out who actually put the dent in your car.

Did you ask anyone who was near if they saw anything?? Home Depot is going to be no help. They have no way of knowing whether or not your car was damaged when you drove it into their lot. Go to a body shop and get an estimate and call your insurance company. That is what insurance companies do......fix your car.

calling your insurance agent will cost you. your deductable is probably about $500. If it is just a dent and not a gash you can also try pops-a-dent. its a suction cup that you apply to the center of the dent and you pull it out. And it really works too, the oxiclean guy was selling it on tv, billy mays

Call your insurance agent after speaking to someone at Home Depot (although I'm reasonably certain that they have disclaimers stating, "Not responsible for damages incurred in parking lot" - which doesn't actually relieve them of the responsibility, but does make it easier for them to avoid paying any claims!).
If you're covered by collision and comprehensive damage, your insurance will cover the damages, after you've met the deductible. Good luck!

nothing its not a big deal... you could get a plunger and try to take the dent out... sometimes it works, but there is a slight risk that the paint will chip, i've done it before and it worked fine on my car though.

Talk to your insurance agent about the accident, he will let you know if it is covered. A body shop will be able to give you and estimate for cost of repairs.
