I have laid down, propped them above heart level, drank LOTS of water, tried ice and heat, and even massage. I cannot get them to go down even a little after 6 hours. Anything else I can try?

If you can press a finger into the swollen area and there is a white impression that does not go away quickly, call your doctor, because that could be a sign of pre-eclampsia that you need to resolve quickly. Other than that, try tinkering a bit with your diet, you may be exhausted and eating a lot of prepared food. Some convenience foods like frozen meals and soups contain a lot of sodium that you may not realize, so try a simple meal that does not rely on pre-prepared ingredients like a chicken breast on the grill and some steamed veggies in the microwave. Those are good ideas because you can put your feet up while they are cooking too! :) Good luck

If this is a new symptom, call your doctor, it could be a sign of preeclampsia (sp?). I had one swollen ankle and my doctor brought me in for lab work just to make sure everything was okay. That night, I ended up going into labor. Otherwise, at least your almost due. Good luck!

Make sure you're not drinking TOO much water.I did that years ago. Once I returned to the normal amount I was supposed to be drinking, I lost four pounds of pure water and I had ankles again. So many people say "you retain water only if you don't drink enough" - and that is NOT true. It's a sign of water poisoning. So make sure your intake is not more than 10 eight-ounce glasses of fluid a day. I recommend as few as 8 eight-ounce beverages a day. You need to give it more than 6 hours. Keep your feet elevated and watch your salt intake. You also need to alert your obstetrician, because it could be a sign of something much worse and you'd need an emergency C-section. So...call your doctor as soon as you can.

I suggest speaking with your doctor.

A certain amount of edema is normal in the ankles and feet during pregnancy. You may also have some mild swelling in your hands.

Call your midwife or doctor if you notice swelling in your face or puffiness around your eyes, more than slight swelling of your hands, or excessive or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles. This could be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition.

Also call your caregiver if you notice that one leg is significantly more swollen than the other, especially if you have any pain or tenderness in your calf or thigh.

Your probably retaining water. I know it sounds stupid, but drinking more water helps alot. Also, keep your feet up as much as possible during the day. Also, it doesn't matter how much you eat. Your baby will still gain weight and there are other things going on that make you gain weight. I'm sure most of the problem is retaining water, and you will loose most of that weight once you give birth.

I did this when I went to bed. my feet swollened so bad i couldnt even walk on them well good luck hope these help and congrats on the new addition to the family.

Cut back on your salt/sodium intake eat watermelon (don't ask me why but it helps you drain retained water - we did a class project on it in college - it really does help) drink lots of water and keep them elevated..and another thing you can try is to wear support hose..it helps..that why old ladies wear them sometimes..you can find them at a maternity store usually..

Good luck

Yes, you can schedule and have a pregnancy massage by a certified pregnancy massage therapist. Is that the kind of massage you've had??
How much water are you drinking? I advise my clients to drink a quart, cut waaaay back on salt, then call me back in 6 hours if they don't see an improvement

have you spoke to your doctor today about this? I would be concerned a bit if I had done all that you stated and not even got a little improvement....I would just keep pushing the water and keep them up other than to pee. I would keep my eyes on it since nothing seems to help...Good luck happy last month of pregnancy!
