How many do you have? and what do you use them for?

I 3 checking accounts with 3 different banks and am undecided on which one to close- if any.

I just wanted to know on average how many do people have and why?

Just have one for each entity that you need.

For instance, if I was had a rental property, I'd have 2. One for personal bills and income, and the other for my rental place deposits and expenses.

I have two - one I use only with my debit card and one I use only for checks.
It's my way of not spending money that should be set aside for bills (which I pay with the checks).
At the very least, I'd have all accounts with the same bank - unless you've opened them in order to be able to get a lower interest rate or possibly for direct deposit purposes to pay a bill.

I can't see any reason to have more than one. Two if you own your own business, then you need a seperate business account.

most people use one. two if you have a business (are self employed)... personal and business should be separate.
