I need a scene for 1 boy and 1 girl. My daughter needs it for a competion they are going to. They are both 14. It needs to be from an actual play and it can be either funny or dramatic though they would prefer comedy. Any help is appreciated...

You can rarely go wrong with early Neil Simon. Perhaps something from Plaza Suite (not bad) , They're Playing Our Song (better), The Goodbye Girl (some scenes more appropriate than others) or Barefoot in the Park (best).

If a 10-15 minute one-act would work, then Tenessee Williams wrote quite a few wonderful ones. They're in a collection called "27 Wagon Loads of Cotton." My favorite one would actually be perfect for your daughter and her friend/scene partner- "This Property is Condemned." It's set in the deep south during the late years of the Great Depression/just before the US go involved in WWII, and it's about a young girl who, through circumstances beyond her control, has been left alone in her family's old home- which is condemned. She's talking with a boy about the same age about her past. It runs maybe 15 minutes if you play the whole thing slow, and it's absolutly beautiful. Another from that collection that I'm quite fond of is "Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen", but that one's a bit old/mature for 14-year-old actors. Anyway, have them check that collection out.

the best one is too old for them, so second best would be maybe something from As You Like It
