When I turn on the running/head lights, the turn signals will not work. But they work if they are both being used by themselves.

Sounds like different problems. The headlight has nothing to do with tail/trailer lights. If you have your lights on and hit the brakes and then the trailer lights go OFF, you have a bad ground. Keep in mind you may hae good ground at the trailer neck, but lose it torwards the rear of the trailer. Depending on vehicle, thgere may be seperate trailer light fuses by themselves. Remember day time running lights are different then head lights. If you are using a 4, 5, or 6 plug harness.
Also another area is if you have no seperate Turn signal- brake light. Like a Geo Tracker, you will have to get an adapter that cahnges 4 wires to 5 wires. This will then give y ou seperate tail light and break light wires to run to the trailer. I have had to replace this a few times on one of my trucks. Noticed only 6 or 8 volts going to the brake light.

turn signal not work on trailer or on both vehicles. A little puzzling as headlites have nothing to do with turn signals. Sounds like turn signal on trailer is wired to tail lite and not brake lite. Need a little more info.
