I've always have used windows firewall and has worked well for me...........good luck!!!

There are lots of good firewalls, alot of people believe the Windows Firewall to be rubish & useless however few realise that it is only an Inbound firewall there for you can connect to other computers / networks / devices etc without any hassle, if you dont mind the prompts & you want to check both Inbound & Outbound connections any comericially availible firewall will good, there are lots of site availible which review those & anti-virus.
Personally I use windows firewall, but if i wanted to monitor all traffic from previous use i would go with ZoneAlarm.

An excellent free and extremely strong firewall is Comodo Personal Firewall. It can pass firewall "leak tests" that even most of the "paid-for" firewalls cannot pass.

Or if you prefer a decent and free firewall that is extremely easy on using your computer's system resources, then Kerio 2.1.5 is just about the lightest firewall there is. Uses about 4 MB RAM on my machine.

I think the most popular one is ZoneAlarm. They have a free version with basic Firewall and also a ZoneAlarm Pro for which you have to pay.
