Democracy is what it is.... the right of the masses over the individual. Fortunately my country, the USA, is a Republic.

Two comments from two unknown individuals, “Loge” and “Heidenlord” from Skadi Forum the largest Germanic online community forum:
Loge:
“seems that the uneducated immigrants usually vote towards the liberal party, wonder why that is?”
Heidenlord:
It has to do with a number of factors I believe. The first being socialist democracy. Democracy has been called "two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner" and I think it sums it up nicely.
A "hand-out" system will eventually corrupt even the best work ethic of the most respectable germanics, but for minorities it is a free-for-all. The poor will always outnumber the rich and when the poor are given the same amount of voting power as the rich it is only a matter of time until they vote themselves the national treasury. The framers of the American Constitution understood this and only allowed land-owning males the right to vote because they understood that only those who have a vested interest in the affairs of the government should have a say in government.
The greatest fallacy in the world is to give someone who can't make money, buy land, or lead a normal life a say in government. What makes people believe that individuals who are failures are going to make a wise choice altogether, I will never know. Governments don't run on good intentions but are governed by the same laws of nature that guide everything else here on earth; governments cannot take blood from a stone nor can they create wealth, they really only consume wealth.
When governments start taking orders from those who can't even balance their own checkbook, we know the end is near. All Democracies have ended in a dictatorship because one day the "free lunch" is over and someone has to stand up and say this and be prepared to "bash some heads" when the hangovers start from the democracy/socialism induced free-for-all.

Well, the worst voter turn out is usually America. I think we all know that the US is a Republic but it has been called and has called itself a democracy for so long and pretends to push for democracy worldwide that the meaning of democracy has grown to include republics like the US and France.

The people at the controls right now are ideologues, and if they have their way we will end up with some kind of unholy alliance of big business and Christian conservatism. Military-industrial theocracy isn't something I would like to live under.
My opinion is that the problem is lack of balance, and the stranglehold that the Dems and Republicans have in Washington DC ... and swinging back to the left wont fix the real problem
The hope is the peculiar genius of a democratic form of government. Over time it tends to balance itself, to correct wild swings that result from crises and reach a stable point. It remains to be seen whether we can do that under the current stresses. Winston Churchill said that democracy is a very poor form of government --- but it's better than any other form we have been able to come up with.

There is nothing wrong with Democracy at all. We happen to live in a Representative Republic that likes to consider itself as a Democracy. So at times it seems like it doesn’t work. There are many countries that practice a true democracy and they are not any better off then we are. The world has gone a bit mad and it seem to get worse and worse ever day. Ever day we loose our rights that our forefather died to give us. Everyday we have to endure a pseudo political correctness and racial sensitivity. You have the right to free speech as long as it doesn’t offend anyone. You can’t have a Christmas party because not everyone celebrates Christmas. The world has gone mad and we here in America are just a bit to hospitable to letting other people come to our house and run things they way they did in there own Country.
OK outside of all of that, our politician work for the highest bidder, even if it the big companies, or foreign countries, our interests have come in last place for the past 30 years. Maybe that is why it seems like it’s not working.

At its core, democracy has always been might makes right -- mob (majority) rule.
That works well enough when people are rational, and willing to take into account how their decisions affect others.
The problem is, in most modern societies, most people are really only concerned with what affects them personally. And they often either don't care how others in the minority are affected, or they actually want to force their personal beliefs on that minority.
Hence, it has become a way for people to gang up on those who are different, and force them to conform and comply -- which is what democracy has always allowed, but which (until recently) we had the wisdom not to do.

there is not any longer something incorrect with our democracy on the instant different than we the commonplace public have become lazy. occasion...Congress vetoes a bill to introduce term limits upon the workplaces they carry. the commonplace public in maximum situations supported the assumption yet suggested oh nicely, what can we do. i'm no genuis, yet i'm guessing shall we no longer vote for the same congress member each and every election could be good commence. Who is conscious...with a sparkling member in place of work each and every 2-4 years it must be greater sturdy for great organisation to maintain paying them off each and every time somone new comes alongside. we'd ought to vote for somebody new everytime an outgoing congress member termed out so it may be the same. The greater they're circled out of place of work the greater effective. merely like enormous organisation, whilst previous techniques do no longer artwork, hearth them and hire somebody new with sparkling techniques. Breathe existence decrease back into democracy and he or she will survive.

USA is not a democracy. It is a republic. Republics elect representatives to vote for them. Democracy is when the people vote for every single issue.
Back when ancient Greece had about 3,000 people, it was a true democracy. They voted with chips off of pottery. They got nowhere. Imagine today with America with 300 million!
The founding fathers hated the idea of a democracy.

Bush. It should be noted that Democracy is actually just mob rule. This country was designed to be a Republic not a Democracy. The founding fathers did this specifically because they considered Democracy to be a threat to our rights and civil liberties. How right they were!

Too often morons are allowed to vote and, as one would expect, they turn around and elect morons to office.
I'm in favor of a very strict civics test that would need to be passed before one could be considered to be qualified to vote for national officeholders. I envision a test that, at least to begin with, would demonstrate conclusively that no more than about 20% of the electorate could be considered remotely capable of voting with some sense of responsiblity and knowledge. This is the sad but true circumstance in this country today.
