you deserve someone better and you should be happier not mooning for anything impossible in terms of unreciprocated stuff.

You're asking whether to believe your friend or your guy right? Well, you have to think about the motivations of each. Is your friend a trustworthy person? Does she/he get jealous of you? On the other hand, how long have you been dating this guy? Has he given you any signs that he's been cheating (text messages from other girls, doesn't want to hang out with you anymore etc.).
This situation isn't as simple as yes or no. It depends on the people involved and your relationship with each.
