I'm guessing/speculating that he wasn't going to get the hours that he wanted and wouldn't be able to progress at the station. Above all else, I think he just wanted to move on.
I used to do all my homework in school listening to Brad, ever since he joined Mike Maniscalco. My favourite radio segment of all time was Riter Cup on friday nights, and when Greg Bauch was his producer every night was special.

RIP Brad Riter

WGR evening host Brad Riter has been let go by the all-sports station. Greg Ried, the general manager of WGR and all Entercom stations, confirmed Riter no longer works for the station.

Ried declined to say why Riter was let go, but a source said Riter was fired after he failed to show for a Monday morning program after he was previously warned about it. For now, WGR will use staffers to fill in for Riter, who primarily works the evening shift.

Many fans said he mispronounced names, was unprepared, and was hard to listen to. Yet, he had many fans.

According to the Buffalo Evening News, as Riter was being escorted out of the building he kept screaming "Rob Johnson is my quarterback!"
