In what field (or ring, or group...)?
In how many dimensions?
What is the metric you use?

In geometry, the triangle inequality holds that the absolute value of 2+2 is equal to or less than 4.

If you are working in the filed Z3 with the usual adidtion and multiplication, then 2+2 = 1.
This means that if you multiply any member of the group Z3 by (2+2), it should leave that member unchanged.

In the multiplicative group Z2, we all know that adding two zeroes can only give another zero. 2 + 2 = 0

If they are two independent, cartesian vectors in an Euclidean space, then it is approximately 2.828427...

If you mean (2) + (2.), then it is (4.) unless you have set up the program differently.
(In old BASIC programming, the computer took 2 as an integer and 2. as a decimal expansion number (i.e., 2.000...) which takes up twice as much memory space. Unless you told it otherwise, the program would reserve memory space for a decimal expansion number (twice as much space) to store the answer.

Let B = 2 + 2
then B = 4 which in some versions could be stored as an integer (since both entrants are integers).

Let B = 2 + 2.
Then B = 4. stored as a decimal expansion, as the computer recognised one of the numbers as such, occupying twice as much memory space as:
Let B% = 2 + 2.
Then B% = 4
an integer (as indicated by the %).

all numbers, even whole numbers have a decimal. However, for whole numbers it is not written, but it is there.

10 is the same as 10. and is also the same as 10.0 and 10.00 and so on. All are still the same numer...10

so with that said, if you were to add 10 + 10. it is the same as 10 + 10 which is 20. I hope this helps you answer the question on your own and that it makes sense

Here is how you find the answer.

Jimmy has 2 bananas. Then Greg gives Jimmy 2 more bananas. How many bananas does Jimmy have now? The answer is 4 bananas.

If this were real life thought, Jimmy would have said "H-E-DOULBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS NO" and throw the bananas Greg gave him on the ground and then he would run away yelling "Stranger Danger! That man tried to give me his bananas!" This would make the answer 2 bananas.

Three theories on this one.
The first holds that 2+2 = 4.
The second holds that 2+2=22
Third holds that 2+2=5 (Radiohead Theory)

4. (due to the floating point contagion)

Had you left off the period, it would simply have been the integer 4.
