Around half are based on documented events and history, others are works of pure fiction by Chris Carter and other writers. For those based loosely on fact for example, "Firewalker" silicon based lifeform, dealing with a parasite, there is an fungus which attached to the Stinky Ant in jungles of Cameroon, which affects higher brain function and drives the ant to climb a tree where it sits and waits to die as the fungus consumes it in order to release spores which then fall to repeat the whole cycle. Some Truths are out there.

Hi I think there is epescially the episodes which are about aliens and alien abductions and things. Im not too sure about some of the other episodes like tooms, the guy who is like over 100 year old and can stretch himself, and the most of the other ones, but deffinatly the ones which show the pentagon etc claiming that the files are hidded etc. then I think these are half true.

Sure. Most of the stand-alone episodes are based on common stories (The Jersey Devil, Chupacabras, telepathy, ghosts) and the alien conspiracy stories contain many common elements of alien abduction tales and conspiracy theories. Are all these thins for real? Probably not. But I believe most of the subjects have their origins in truth, at some level.

there is x files at the fbi.. just not so much like the show..
they were declassified some years ago and thats my guess is where the idea came from to do the series

I don't know but 'Fire in the Sky' is said to be based on a true story.

yes, to many people have had to many close encounters for the all to be lying just like ghosts.
