Is he moving into the first tier of candidates? Will McCain's dropping out make a difference in his numbers, or will they go to Rudy?

The funny thing is that Huckabee was not and never has been on my radar. The more I see of him, however, I believe he might be the best candidate of all. I think Rudy has some baggage and that some people are turned off by Romney's good looks, so there is still a huge vacuum on the Republican side.

It's crazy, but in past elections, we would just be getting a few flirting around at this point. This time, we appear to have been running for a couple of years.

I like Huckabee better than Giuliani, Mccain and Romney,. all of them are flip floppers... Giuliani and Mccain won't even sign paper ensuring lower taxes.. that should be a red flag to anyone who is supporting them... not to mention the fact that they are offering full amnesty to illegals!

But is Huckabee a viable candidate?.. I doubt it.. If you look at the statistics, majority of this country is opposed to the war in Iraq... A pro war candidate is simply unelectable... The only republican who has any shot of getting in the White House is Ron Paul...

Huckabee could be the nominee of the Republican party and its realistic that with McCain leaving the race Huckabee would get the nomination.

McCain is too old, Romney is Quaker, and Rudy is pro-choice, and the extreme right wing that took over the Republican party in 2000 won't vote for these three anyway, so Huckabee is that Nascar Prodestant that they will elect.

No, I think Ron Paul should be the front runner. Don't look at how much money they have for their campaign. Crooked candidates get allot of money from special interest groups. That is how Bush was selected the first time and bought the election the second time.

They are all viable candidates and don't let polls choose the candidates for you. If anyone of those candidates issues and past voting suites you best, stick with him.

Polls are garbage, the final polls are on voting day.

Huckabee is a poor choice.
As an Arkansan, I live in the aftermath of his gubernatorial actions and am appalled by the words he speaks campaigning.
He now claims to be anti-illegal alien. Yet, he negotiated for a consulate, now in Little Rock, providing aid to illegal aliens daily. He fought for and won free prenatal care for illegal aliens. In January of 2005, he denounced politicians for denying ILLEGAL aliens the right to vote.

He granted hundreds of pardons while governor, frequently violating Arkansas law which requires advance notification of victims', their families and local law enforcement agencies. In the case of Wayne Dumond, when public outcry prevented a pardon, a backdoor transfer to Missouri was arranged. Dumond was subsequently released, murdered a woman there and died in a Missouri prison.
Swiftly following the school shootings in Jonesboro, Huckabee published a book that essentially blamed all misbehavior by children on mothers who work. He profited hugely with that book, which failed to address the need of most families to have 2 incomes in today's economy.
He unleashed a court battle on Arkansas' education systems that has served to hurt many schools, and may never be fully resolved. He advocated taking away local control of school administrations to have state control.
He attempted to withhold federal funds earmarked for nursing homes and geriatric care, resulting in yet another legal battle which for the good of Arkansas' elderly, he lost.
He raised sales taxes by 37%. Motor fuel taxes by 16%. He opposed a reduction in sales taxes on groceries, which would benefit the poor and elderly on fixed incomes. Fortunately, following his departure from office, that measure was passed.
Under Governor Huckabee's watch, state spending increased a whopping 65.3% from 1996 to 2004, three times the rate of inflation.

He is not a viable candidate...if you want a viable nation.

I live in Arkansas and do not feel he is a viable candidate. Not unless you want higher taxes. Worse part is that Obama says he is a good choice. think about it.
