I know it wouldn't float like a balloon, but i wonder if there would be any "upgrade" towards the distance the ball could be thrown.

No no difference Myth Busters tried and there was no difference

It would make it about 1 gram lighter, which wouldn't have any noticeable effect.

But if they breathed in the helium, THAT would have entertainment value.

I watched that on an episode of this show called mythbusters..and they did that w/ kicking a football..by dropping a swinging sledge hammer...and there isn't a difference..

it would stay down the weight of the ball would override the helium

It would probably weight a little bit less but much of a difference

check out mythbusters they did it and actually the ball didn't go as far and was less accurate.
