That sounds like it's just your friend's sister.
There are a lot of superficial straight people, too.
Does your school have cliques? If so, what's the stereotype of the "popular" or "preppy" students? If it's at all like my middle school was (though thankfully my high school has no cliques), chances are they're perceived as superficial, and they can't ALL be gay.
As for materialistic... how many people do you know that have an ipod? Can you even keep track?
Those are human qualities that have no correlation with one's sexuality. I know I'm pretty materialistic, and I'm straight.

I've known both. Gay people who are superficial, and straight people who are superficial. Some male. Some female. The straight, plastic, mean girls that I went to high school with were the worst. There was a handful of girls I went to college with that were just as bad.
Not all gay people are superficial. Not all straight people are superficial.

Your brave to bring up this!
I think the people I have encountered who are gay have also been that way, can't say why, I only think they are desperate to be loved (sounds like some of us though!).
I'm sure it is not all gay people. I knew someone at work who kept saying he didn't mind being open about his sexuality and relationship but we didn't ALL want to know. We not interested in other colleagues sexual relationships why should we be interested in theirs?
They should chill out, stop trying to fit in so much, people will like you if they do and if they don't how do you know it's because of your sexual orientation, no-one knows anyone elses, so stop talking about it!

Just exactly how many gay people do you know?
If youre going by just this one (bestfriend's sister who is gay) then you need to get out more.
Sounds like someone's just a little young and maybe a tad immature.

Most people, gay or straight, are superficial. Odd you only notice the gay ones, eh?

I met a straight guy who decided to point out all the "ugly" features of the girls in our class, no matter who they were.
Should I assume all straight men are chauvinistic and critical of women's appearances? No? Oh right, because I would be making sweeping generalizations based on individualistic experiences.

Yep, many (but by no means all) of the gay people I have known have been pretty darned superficial, not to mention self-centered.
Here is a link to a news article I read today.

I found it so absurd on so many levels that I'm really not sure what to even say about it other than people in "real" marriages do not get to choose whether or not they have twins plus they have to actually be mature enough to build a partnership with someone of the opposite sex in order to procreate.

that's in common terms what we like and we actually did not pick it. i won't be able to help that i do in comparison to rap, automobiles or women in a sexual way. that's in common terms the strategies issues are. So in case you won't be able to settle for that we act that way then you fairly only are a undeniable bigot.

OMG YES!
I have only been out for about 3 years. . . and have seen it greatly! The gay community does not accept fellow gays, that it is no wonder the heteros do not!
I have been told that I am to old, to be talk to, I am to fat, I am to ugly, my hair is to short, I have a goatee, I have brown eyes, and I am Caucasian! These are the reason I have received as to WHY, they cannot communicate with me!

No, it's not just you. The gay people I know are extremely superficial, materialistic and narcisistic. It seems like every gay person is just the same. Not to mention overly open about their sexuality since gay men like to touch everyone they see.
