Michigan losing to a I-AA team, and Notre Dame sucking it up big time. I love it. And Florida State sucks too.

Cowboys - I'm not surprised at all. Their head coach is a complete idiot and their offensive coordinator over complicates things WAY too much. If they would just line up and play football like it is supposed to be played they would be fine. All the spread formations and motion are things you do to compensate for lack of talent, not in spite of the talent you have. Bucs - Not so surprising. They only beat the Browns and Panthers. A lot of people will do that before the end of the season. Chiefs - Yes, it was surprising the took down the Chargers, but that was in the pouring rain. The second win was over the Browns. Not hardly a surprise. Don't bet the farm on them. Vikings - Favre impressive? What scale are you measuring that on? At the VERY best he is average this year. Steelers have won 2 games that no one has expected them too, so that does say something. They have their defense to thank for it by stepping up to the challenges. Texans - They have looked great. They have demonstrated they can hang in there and produce offensively with any team in the league. I expect them to blow out the Cowboys this weekend. The most surprisingly in my opinion is the Lions believe it or not. They would have beaten the Bears except for one controversial call, and came within 3 points of beating the Eagles. No, they won't make the playoffs, but they are manning up and playing hard core against very good teams.

NFL
1. Texans : Who knew that one of the most dynamic QB-WR duos would be Schaub to Johnson?

2. Saints : What in the world is going on? Was last year just an anomaly? That team has too many weapons to flop like this.

3. Lions : Newly repackaged offense but who knew they'd put it together this early? However, I suspect they'll return to mediocre form later in the season.

4. Cowboys : What in the world? Lots of weapons on that team, sure...but are you all on 'roids? Who put a boot up your butt Romo to inspire you to start QBing like a stud? Marion Barber, you're a beast.

NCAA
1. Michigan : Big House? Go Blue? I guess the rest of the country has decoded the Wolverines. Go spread offense!

2. Boston College : Wake Forest showed the ACC that they WERE the best and then BC showed up to play. I knew Matt Ryan had the goods but I didn't know he'd mature this fast. Eagles look good on both sides of the ball.

3. UCLA : Do you miss Maurice Jones-Drew? 44-6 to Utah...enough said.

4. The Big-10 in general : Weaker than expected. Wisconsin hype? I don't think so. Ohio State? Barely squeeze by the Huskies?

Miscellaneous notes : Notre Dame going 0-3 is no surprise. They're young, inexperienced, and lack depth. I don't care what you think of Weis' football IQ, you can't do much with a JV (make that, intramural) team. Back to the practice field Irish. Well, at least you have your winning streak against Navy, right?

Someone that shocks me as doing worse (in college) is Auburn. Losing 2 back-to-back teams that I'm sure the AD thought would be wins. I think the players were looking too far ahead to this weekend's matchup with the Gators, and forgot to take care of the task at hand 1st.

Another shocker for doing worse (NFL) is the Saints. You can't help but wonder how a team that was in the NFC title game could start the season 0-2, especially since they had a whole season to gel.

Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon(not so much them) for college...Oregon is looking pretty good..

New Orleans is really the only NFL team that shocked me...0-1 was fine, people expected that...but a loss to Tampa...and a loss that bad to Tampa? 0-2? Ouch, not expecting that.

Philly, Houston, and Green Bay I half expected to turn out the way they did. I knew Philly would have problems, they just didn't look very good on paper, and don't look good on the field. Houston had a change a QB, which is bound to grab attention from players to play better. And Green Bay has a potential top 5 defense if they keep this up....And we saw that start last year...it got better when their safeties started playing...

Okay?

NFL: Houston Texans
I didn't think their new QB would be that great of a addition to their team.
NCAAF: Obviously Michigan with their downfall and doesn't seem like it will get better for them this week when they play my team, the Penn State Nittany Lions.
But i'll also say Oregon is, they were a great team but didn't think they would be this good.
With the way they are playing right now, they will be a top contender for the Pac 10 title.

Notre Dame and Michigan has done much worse than I expected, Houston in the NFL much better.

New Orleans Saints ---

They have 90% of the same team as last year and it shows how much a team can change when their team starts playing different. Payton desided to start running Bush, for the most part, instead of throwing side passes to him and running McAllister like they did last year. It worked great. The only chance they have is to start returning to how they played last year. Their defense is still not very good. The secondary ruins their defense.

NFL: Saints as a poor performer (ruining my fantasy team).

NCAA: USF as a good performer and breaking into the top 25 and both Michigan and Notre Dame as poor performers.

Michigan and Notre Dame have been a shock to me.
I think that Oregon has been surprising, especially the 2 statue of liberty plays vs. Michigan.
