It's okay to stimulate the clitoris and labia (unless they're sore) but not okay to penetrate the vagina until it's healed. It's to prevent infection (and pain or discomfort).

Why not just let yourself rest for 6 weeks?
Being up with a new baby every 2 or 3 hours really puts a damper on any thoughts of sex.

Masturbation is totally okay. Plus it helps your parts return to there pre baby state. Because clitoral stimulation provides a stronger orgasm, the contractions of your uterus will help it shrink back to size and your vaginal muscles will get their strength again. I did Kegal exersises also.( When you urinate, stop and start the flow) once you learn how to contract and release those muscles you can exersise them allday at your discretion. Not only will you achieve a better orgasm but your partner will feel the difference once you begin to have sexual intercourse. My husband said that it felt good as new.

my husband and I never waited that long.....as soon as I felt comfortable with it, we did. Just take it slow and gentle, and obviously stop if you're feeling any pain. Just don't forget about birth control...I was told by my old ob that a woman is extrememly furtile the first couple months after having a baby. It proved to be true for me! Good Luck

My doctor gave me the go-ahead at 3 weeks, but if your doctor said to wait 6, you need to wait. As for masturbation, I would assume if you're going to do so without any penetration, you'll be fine. If you're planning on using a toy or something, you might as well be having sex. If it hurts, don't do it. Otherwise you should be ok.

6 weeks is a generalized time frame. Some moms heal faster than others and some take longer. If you feel comfortable enough to masturbate, go for it.

Depending on how long ago you gave birth, masturbastion is the same as sex in the sense that, nothing is to be going inside of you for 6 weeks. As for the answer where she asks if you tore or were stitched, it doesn't matter. For your womanly insides to heal, keep everything out of it.

They say 6 weeks so you can heal, but it's mainly a guide line. If it doesn't hurt to masturbate go for it.

Nothing inside. They should have also said not to use tampons. This is because they want nothing at all inside. I think they are just too embarrassed to say " no sex, tampons or toys inside" External stimulation should be fine, just make sure to stop if you start feeling any discomfort at all.
