As I was driving all of a sudden the engine sputters and the check engine light comes on. Now everytime the rpms get to about 2,700 to 3,000 rpms the engine would sputter and slightly hesitate. I am afraid to bring the engine above 2,700 rpms.

Yeah it won't let me go above 3,000 rpms. And it is a manual transmission.

its a vtech problem could be either a p1259 p2647 or another code but i cant remember it off the top of my head i think a p2646 but check your oil if its ok then it probably needs a vtec pressure switch...i have see a few of these casue problmes but only on 4 cyl 2.4l engines so thats what im goin to assume u have...the switches are fairly cheap and dont take long to change!

Honda has a limp mode. If there is something majorly wrong with the car the ECU will not allow you to go over 3k rpms. I would take it to the nearest Autozone and have them run an obd-2 diagnostics scan to see what check engine code is popping up. I had this happen many years ago and it ended up being the crank shaft position sensor.

You also have the option of taking it directly to honda for a diagnostic, but they wont do it for free.

no longer plenty element having the codes pulled for the examine engine gentle - there's a reasonably large electric powered difficulty, so the codes would be bogus besides. There are 2 considerable suspects - the battery and a floor, fairly the engine floor. the two may well be difficulty-free to envision on a similar time as the device is performing up yet intermittents will force you nuts. The engine floor is undemanding adequate to envision, sparkling and tighten. i don't comprehend approximately your 2003, yet older Hondas had a 2d twine from the battery damaging terminal to the chassis and a smaller twine from the valve conceal to the chassis. the two way, it is nicely worth cleansing and tightening. The battery is greater confusing, yet a voltmeter length of the AC around the battery terminals would desire to instruct under a million/10 (0.a million) volts AC. A extreme stable voltage (i've got seen as extreme as a million.7, yet 0.3 to 0.5 volts AC is greater undemanding) in lots of situations skill a bad diode interior the alternator on a similar time as a broadly fluctuating AC voltage greater many times skill a broken connection interior the battery. If the battery is the unique it is a large time to substitute it yet while it is greater modern you will desire to to check out greater.

Is this a manual or automatic transmission? I have a 2003 Honda Accord (automatic transmission) and something similar happened. It was something wrong with the transmission. I had it fixed and haven't had a problem since. Luckily, they didn't have to replace the transmission or it would have been $$$$$$.

Go to auto zone or similar store and they will read your trouble codes from the check engine lite. The numbers are a code for the problem or problems. They should be able to give you a definition of the codes.

All cars have a limp mode but it sounds like a cam or crankshaft sensor. Accept the fact that it might be a lemon and take it to Honda and pay their price to fix it right.

check your oil. if your oil is low the it can not operate the vtec system. there will be a p1259 stored in the pcm. if you have that code or a cam sensor code and your oil if fine, then your timing chain probably jump time.
